Building a Foundation for Sustainable Success
Kamy Lavanchy Jenny Craig D

Foundation is everything and most people leave this part out.  It is crucial to build a sustainable foundation for anything that we wish to achieve in life.  Wealth, health and success.  My friends Craig & Jenny D sum it up very well with what I consider the 3 critical components necessary to create a foundation for sustainable success in all areas of your life.  Mindset, movement and nutrition.

This may seem unusual at first since we were just talking about our body, but the reality is that we must first address the mind. This is so critical to our success because we are creatures of habit and if we are looking to make sustainable changes in our lives, we must first understand our deep-rooted WHY behind making those changes to avoid slipping back into our old patterns.

Here is how it works: (Write Your Answers Down In A Place You Can Come Back To)

Ask yourself, “What is your initial goal of living a lifestyle of wellness?”
Then ask, “WHY do you want to reach this goal?”
With every answer of WHY ask the question again to go deeper until you can not go any farther.

What is your goal? I want to lose 30 pounds
Why? I want to feel better in my body
Why? I want to have more energy
Why? I will to have more energy when I get home after working to be engaged with my children
Why?My family is the most important thing to me and I don’t want to miss out on any time with them
Why? I need to keep myself healthy so that I can be there for my children to raise them.
Why? I want to experience all the joys of raising children and give them stability.

The trick is going as deep as possible until you really can feel into why you want this in your life. Many times, people wait until they are faced with a health challenge and their WHYbecomes very clear.

Your body will whisper, then speak and then shout louder and louder until you listen. Will you start making sustainable changes while you are in still in control of reducing your risk or wait until it is too late?

The HOW is easy, once you know your WHY!

Feeling tired, lethargic, and mentally foggy? You probably need more movement in your life. Hold on…don’t stop reading just yet, movement does not have to mean a hardcore exercise program. How much movement and what type all depends on your goals. The important thing is that you need some sort of movement!

Movement in critical to improving our energy levels, increasing our mental clarity and focus. Many people have been trained to think about it as something we do to lose weight or change our body composition and these are just the side effects of movement.,

Movement has been shown to help boost our energy, improve mood, reduce the risk of disease, promote healthy sleep, improve your sex life, control your weight, and give you something fun to do! Imagine a life like this!!

You may think that exercise is going to tire you out, or that you don’t have the energy to even start. Let us assure you, all it takes is the first few minutes to get the blood flowing to improve your energy and mood.

We recommend for those that are not accustomed to exercising regularly that you start with 5 minutes of walking every day (outside if possible). If you miss one day, hold yourself accountable to do 10 minutes the next day.

Start off with a reasonable goal for where you are right now and build from there, before you know it you will be craving more and seeking a new challenge. Experience increased energy, confidence, clarity and focus today!

There are so many choices out there today when it comes to nutrition. Everyone has a magic diet that is going to solve all of your problems. The reality is that most people that try a diet, while they may have short-term results, end up failing to achieve sustainable results leaving them in a yo-yo pattern, damaging their body and their self-esteem.

The question becomes how do you achieve sustainable results?

We have found with our clients, that people do not like to be told what they can’t have. Rather, they find much higher levels of success when we encourage them to add things to their diet. The most sustainable results come from adding whole foods to your diet with high nutrient density. Think vegetables, fruit, nuts, and seeds.

When you have a mindset of awareness while eating, you will quickly realize how much your energy level and mental clarity is influenced by the fuel you put in your body.

To have the greatest success in building a foundation of sustainable wellness and increased energy in your life, you need to start with your WHY and then build in sustainable practices of both movement, nutrition, and mindset!

We believe in you! If we can do it, why can’t you?

Increase your energy and achieve your goals

The reason people do not achieve their goals is because they lack the drive to create a plan of action and lack the necessary energy required to follow through.

This lack of drive is caused by a lack of energy which is caused by a lack self-confidence and a negative mindset which comes from our underlying thoughts and belief system.

We have between 60-70 thousands thoughts a day and only 10% of those thoughts are conscious.

According to research, as many as 98 percent of thoughts are exactly the same as what we had the day before. Even more significant, 80 percent of our thoughts are negative.

Negative thoughts drain our energy and drive and affirm that we are unable to achieve our goals because we are constantly affirming the negative thought patterns of the day before.

I’ve been there, in the past I found myself with a lack of energy and drive, low self-confidence and unachieved goals on several occasions.  The way out was a process.  I would go back to basics – get clear on the goals I wanted to achieve, create a plan of action, commit to myself, and move forward.

Creating the plan alone raised my self-confidence and energy.  As I hit milestones one by one my drive grew stronger and stronger until before you knew it I was achieving goals regularly.

With practice, my goals become bigger and bolder and the process keeps me growing into bigger bolder results.

Why most of us have low self-confidence

We all suffer from a lack of self-confidence in some area of our life.

This is caused by the negative thoughts running through our minds like an endless recorder that we are not consciously aware of.  We have between 60-70 thousands thoughts a day and only 10% of those thoughts are conscious.

According to research, as many as 98 percent of thoughts are exactly the same as we had the day before. Talk about creatures of habit! Even more significant, 80 percent of our thoughts are negative.

If this is the case and you are constantly bashing yourself with I’m not good enough, smart enough, attractive enough, skinny enough and on and on, you are creating a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I know, I’ve been there.  I grew up in an environment where I was taught to feel inadequate, not enough, stupid, and basically like I should not exist.  My thoughts patterns about myself were not very up-lifting.  On the contrary, they were very debilitating and caused me to recreate negative situations in my life over and over again.

All these thoughts come from an underlying belief system which is the most powerful AND debilitating source we have!

Through a process of self-discovery coaching, I became aware of the negative thoughts that were running my life and was in a position to do something about it.  I now have the tools to overcome this debilitating thought process which has allowed me to increase my self-confidence and get things done!

If you want to increase your self confidence, let me take you on a journey into your subconscious and reprogram these negative beliefs and strengthen YOUR self-confidence muscle to create radical success in all areas of your life.

Negative thoughts leads to procrastination
negative thoughts.jpeg

Did you know that how you feel is a direct result of how you think?  And what you think is a direct result of what you believe?  And what you believe is what creates your actions?

Negative thoughts are destructive; they bring you down and keep us stuck in mediocre.  It is normal to have negative thoughts from time to time, however a continuous negative thought pattern will then keep us stuck in the mud of feeling not good enough, not smart enough, not capable, and the list goes on. It is a vicious cycle.

Negative thoughts can cause us to procrastinate because we may be thinking, “ah, what’s the use anyway!” Procrastination, fear, negative thoughts, they  are all actions that cripple us and lower our self-confidence, energy, productivity and end results.

Like fear, there are certain triggers that cause us to procrastinate, here’s a list of 5 of them:

·      The task appears boring or pointless
·      The task appears overwhelming
·      The task involves a possible confrontation
·      You don’t know how to proceed
·      You are afraid of failing

The solution is to understand what your trigger is and create a blueprint (action plan) around that trigger to follow through and get the job done.  I know because I used to procrastinate often until I understood this.  Now that I create a blueprint, I am more confident and get results.  Negative thoughts and procrastination no longer take over.

Here are some tips for doing so:

·      Focus on starting rather than finishing and get started to get it done

·      Break it down into chunks and set mini deadlines to get it done

·      Work on it 15 mins at a time and get it done – do not underestimate the accumulative effects of 15 minutes several times a day every day

·      Visualize what it will feel like when you have finished the task – then get it done to feel the reward

·      Ask for help to get it done (Really, ask for help?  Yes, ask for help)

·      Consider what it’s costing your social life, work life, happiness, etc by not doing it and get it done

Bottom line, if we do not understand our thought patterns to move past the procrastination, we suffer.  We do not get things done which in turn brings more negative thoughts and around and around we go.

How did I become fearless?
3 -fear.jpg

We all suffer from fear at some point in our life.  It is programmed into our nervous system and works like an instinct.

From the time we're infants, we are equipped with the survival instincts necessary to respond with fear when we feel emotionally unsafe.

For example, if you did something that you felt was a success and you shared it with someone else and they found all the negative aspects of it, and this happened repeatedly, you would feel emotionally unsafe to be successful.

Here are five triggers of emotional fear:

  • Change
  • Inadequacy
  • Failure of success
  • Rejection
  • Or being judged

Let me give you another example.  I once knew a great dancer who loved to dance and perform.  One time her mother came to watch the show.  The mother made a comment, one comment that lasted forever and brought an end to her dance career.  The mother told the daughter that she had big legs!

Of course she had very muscular legs, she was a dancer!  And yet this one comment was a judgment. The daughter danced less and less until she stopped altogether because she became fearful of being judged.

It only takes one comment.  This one comment “you have big legs” turns into a belief which gets program into our nervous system to work like an instinct.

Trust me when I tell you I know all about this nervous system and mindset instincts.  My primary care giver had a psychological personality disorder.  This is like living with Jekyll and Hyde.  My fears were all of the above points and more.

How did I get to where I am today?  After reading hundreds of books and still not being able to implement what I understood quite clearly, I engaged a mentor who led me through a process of self discovery which allowed me to overcome my fears and create radical success in my life.
